1937 Chevy Truck

1937 Chevy Truck

This truck sat in a field from about 1968 until July 2006 when Jaysin acquired it.  These pictures were taken on June 10 2007, three days after its first road test and the day of it's first show entry.  This is not a cosmetic face-lift, there is no shiny paint job here.  This truck had a story to tell; Jaysin helped it find the words.

In this rolling sculpture, Jaysin highlighted the truck's history by finding ways to restore life to both the truck and various donor parts.

Custom radiator fan shroud

The radiator is from a 1993 camaro, turned vertically, with custom top and bottom tanks built for the truck.  This fan came with one of those nasty plastic finger-guards, which Jaysin wisely discarded in favor of this custom-designed combination fan shroud and mount.  In keeping with the truck's personality, Jaysin finished the shroud in a clear coated rusted finish.

Master Cylinder and three matching lines

The custom bent brake and hydraulic clutch lines are seen here.    On the far right of this same picture, you catch a glimpse of the firewall brace which Jaysin fabricated using his CNC Plasma Cutting table.

Battery box made from used ammunition box Keg fuel tank with custom bracketry

Because the original gas tank was not usable, Jaysin installed this stainless steel beer keg, supporting it with a custom cradle and stainless steel cable tie-downs.  Located next to the fuel tank is a re-purposed ammunition can, which now serves as an element-resistant battery box.

Custom nickel-plated exhaust stacks

The nickel plated steel exhaust stacks ... attached to the cab with custom brackets.

The exterior door handles are re-purposed matching wrenches & the interior door handles are made from matching sockets.  The handle ferrles were turned using an engine lathe.

Custom accessory control switch panel Custom main control switch panel

Electrical controls are located in two switch panels over the driver side windshield.

Jaysin formed & beaded  the floor using the bead roller & English wheel he made. The Shift handle was a ball-peen hammer, and Jaysin created the pedals with parts cut on his CNC Plasma table.

This truck was built with the purpose of being used & handled. You may have seen us at Billetproof 2008. Here's the truck at Billetproof, being enjoyed by a friend's children (under their father's supervision, of course!)
